163 409 families receive targeted social assistance in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva â€“APA. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection held board meeting on the performance of the targeted social assistance benefits, medical social examinations, rehabilitation of disabled people in 2008. According to APA, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Fuzuli Alekberov said zonal medical-social examination commissions granted degrees of disability to 215 306 people above 18 in 2008. Deputy Minister Ilgar Rahimov said indexing of the social compensation sum total at least once a year was started last year. Compensations for 387 551 people, who receive monthly and single social compensations, were increased for four times over the past five years. â€œThe social compensations grew for averagely one and a half time in compare with 2007. 29104 people were granted with presidential stipends founded by the head of stateâ€. Rahimov said 163 409 families received targeted social assistance benefits in Azerbaijan currently. The number of families receiving social assistance was doubled as against last year. A monthly benefit per family increased by 18 percent, number of large families â€“by 76.2 percent and number of families receiving benefits for the first time was doubled.
