Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources meets with members of the Caspian Business Integration Club

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva–APA. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov met with the members of the Caspian Business Integration Club (CBIC) on Wednesday. It was the club’s second meeting with Bagirov, said President of the Club Telman Aliyev, APA reports. Briefing on the club’s activity, Telman Aliyev said the club was established in June 2002. Honorary President of the Club is Ilham Aliyev.

Minister Bagirov informed the club members that main directions of the ministry’s activity are the protection of environment and ecological monitoring. He also informed about the works done for restoration of bio-resources of the Caspian Sea. The Minister said in comparison with other countries Azerbaijan made serious steps in this field, but it was not enough. According to Bagirov, nearly 20 million infant sturgeons were floated to the sea. Warning about threat of disappearance of sturgeons, the minister said that confiscated poaching capture in Russia equaled to the national quote of Azerbaijan. Bagirov said pollution level of the Caspian Sea was reduced for ten times in comparison with 1985. One of the main sources polluted the Caspian Sea is Volga River, said the minister. 80 percent of slops flow to the sea via Volga. Bagirov was awarded with the CBIC diploma. Then he answered the questions of club members.
