Shamakhi. Shahnazar Bashirov–APA. “Unregistered medicine is not sold in Azerbaijan at present,” Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev told journalists, APA Shirvan bureau reports.
Asked why prices on medicines rose in Azerbaijan recently, Shiraliyev noted that medicines were under serious control.
“Everybody knows that medicines of bad quality have been delivered to Azerbaijan before. Medicines delivered early in 2008 are being registered. Of course, qualitative medicines are expensive,” he said. Minister stated that they would take measures on this field and regulate price rise.
Minister added that state program is carried out on free medicine for diabetes mellitus at present. 63.000 diabetes mellitus patients have been registered after adoption of state program. Free medical service found out that there are over 100.000 diabetes mellitus patients in Azerbaijan. They have not registered because of non existence of free medical service.
The Minister stated that Health Ministry had appealed to the Cabinet and allocated additional capital on the issue.
“New medicines will be delivered to patients,” he said.
