National TV and Radio Council chief: We are not satisfied with the terms of the technical draft contract submitted to Azerbaijan by Russia

Chief of National Television and Radio Council Nushiravan Maharramli told APA that the draft contract submitted by Russia covers only technical issues on transmission of RTR in Azerbaijan.
“It is a pity that the draft contract does not cover the points on transmission of Azerbaijani broadcasters in Russia. The contract does not point out that in what part of Russia and when the Azeri TV channel will be transmitted. This is the main point that interests us,” he said.
Nushiravan Maharramli said that the council will present its position officially to the relevant bodies.
“We were asked to make judgment on the technical draft contract, and we will submit the judgment to the Cabinet of Ministers. We will point out that the technical contract between the two countries is to be short term, i.e. one year. According to the contract, Azerbaijan and Russia are to cooperate on equal conditions. Azerbaijan is to charge with the transmission of Russian channel in the country and Russia is to charge with the transmission of our channel in Russia. Controversial points should be solved in the framework of the international law,” he said.
Work on the intergovernmental draft agreement on rules and terms of Azerbaijani television and radio broadcasters in Russia and Russian broadcasters in Azerbaijan has finished. The working groups reached an agreement during their meeting in Baku on July 23 this year, that the next meeting on the technical contract is to be held in Moscow during which signing of the contract will be debated.
The draft agreement covers transmission of RTR in Azerbaijan and AzTV in Russia on parity basis. /APA/
