Deputy Minister of Health: Facts of drug use by schoolchildren have been recorded in Azerbaijan

We are concerned about it,â€ Deputy Minister of Health Elsevar Agayev told journalists, APA reports. He said awareness raising activities must be carried out at schools, parents must be involved in these activities. Elsevar Agayev said â€œNo to narcotic drugs!â€ campaign realized by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education will be a successful step in this sphere.

Deputy Minister said Azerbaijan joined the UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs in 1961, Convention on Psychotropic Substances in 1971.
â€œTherefore, we regularly present data regarding the legal use of such substances. The Ministry of Health is the major body exercising control over the legal traffic of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their precursors. We can not imagine our healthcare without narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances. Illegal use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances has become one of the most profitable spheres in the world. Therefore, all â€“ parents, schoolchildren must be active in this,â€ he said.
Elsevar Agayev said nonprescription medicines having narcotic effect are not sold at the drugstores.
