He said the commission for the translation of the documents will be set up at the Institute of Manuscripts.

“The proposal on establishing the commission was put forward at the scientific board of the institute. There are too many manuscripts, they can not be translated by one person. Therefore, it was proposed to set up a commission and give the documents for translation to various persons,” he said.

Alakbarli said the aim is not only to translate the documents, but also to study thoroughly the documents which are very valuable for the history of Azerbaijan.

According to the scientist, now the documents are being translated from Latin. The translation of the documents from other languages has not started yet.

“We are translating these documents by our own efforts. Large-scale translation will require the participation of the broad commission. It is not easy to translate documents from different languages. The commission will be set up at the Institute of Manuscripts. The commission will include representatives of other institutes of ANAS, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The letters written by Pope Paul and Pope Innocent to Shah Tehmasib are being translated now. As the process of translation has not completed, the content of the letters has not been analyzed,” he said.
