Bekir Bozdag: “Turkish universities will allocate 150 places to Azerbaijani students next academic year”

Baku – APA. Minister of Education Misir Mardanov met the delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdag, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan. APA reports quoting the website of the Ministry of Education that after welcoming Misir Mardanov talked about the rapid development of the Azerbaijan-Turkey relations in all spheres, including educational one. The minister noted that at least 4 000 Azerbaijanis are studying in the Turkey’s leading universities and 4 000 Turkish students are studying in Azerbaijan and it could be characterized as manifestation of the brotherhood relations.

Misir Mardanov noted that Azerbaijan attach special importance to the education of youth abroad and underlined the significance of the relations with the universities of Turkey. It is important that Azerbaijani students are getting abroad specialties actual for Azerbaijan and from this point of view special importance is attached to cooperation with relevant government organizations of Turkey.

The minister appreciated the activities of Azerbaijani-Turkish private schools and the Caucasus University in Baku and focused attention on preparation of common textbooks for efficient cooperation in the field of education. He said this issue should be discussed by the experts.

Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdag informed about the education capabilities of Turkish higher education institutions and spoke about the role of education in the development of intellectual potential of every nation. He said that Turkish universities would allocate 150 places to Azerbaijani students next academic year. Bozdag underlined the necessity to discuss proposals for the development of cooperation in the field of education. He said Turkey was always interested in the development of relations with Azerbaijan. They also held discussions on extension of mutual cooperation in educational sphere and admission of Azerbaijani students to doctorate programs in Turkey.
