New building to be constructed for landslide sufferers in Bakuâ€™s Khatai district

There is no change or any move in the territoryâ€, chief engineer of Complex Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology Expedition of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry Shaig Niftiyev told APA.

According to him, the ground waters flow continues: â€œTo prevent this flow, drainage wells were dug and ground waters collected there are pumped out. Protective works have started in the area. No problem is still observed thereâ€.

The specialist said that they have finished works on two points of the plan of preventive measures and two others are still worked out. â€œToday we have submitted the geological report on the landslide area to the Cabinet of Ministers. Now the constructors are developing the project of protective worksâ€.

According to Niftiyev, due to landslide in Zigh settlement, all residents were evacuated from the landslide-threatened building: â€œWe have chosen a place to construct new building for the sufferers. The employees of the ministries of Emergency Situations and Ecology and Natural Resources examined the site. New building will be constructed in a roadside near the â€œBakiavtonagliyyatâ€ organization. There is no geological problem for its construction. The projecting works will start in the next few days. Garachukhur landslide area also became active, but general situation is not dangerousâ€.
