Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. Comprehensive Hydro-Geology and Engineer-Geology Expedition of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources has already submitted an inquiry about the subsiding process around the residential building in Surakhani district of Baku. “There were two processes – grounds’ subsiding and subsoil erosion. The building’s foundation contains sands and grounds which are percolated by ground waters causing unequal subsiding there”, the expedition’s chief engineer Shaig Niftiyev told APA.

Niftiyev said the Cabinet of Ministers held an emergency meeting to discuss the situation around the subsiding building. Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov presided over the meeting. “Water leakage in the communication lines in that area, as well as intensification of atmospheric condensations caused unequal subsiding and ground erosion which deformed the building’s foundation. The geological processes are developing in the area and it became impossible to prevent it. Therefore the residents were evacuated. The building will be removed because it is impossible to repair it”, said Niftiyev.

The subsiding process in Surakhani district was observed on February 27. Ground erosion and subsiding caused splits and changed the building’s construction.
