Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “The icing is observed in Nabran coast of the Caspian Sea. Now the icing is observed in Siyazan. 10m icing is observed in Siyazan coast, 5-6 m icing in Nabran, 20-30m icing in Tagiyev settlement 30-40m in Sumgayit”, Director of Division of Climate Change and Ozone Centre of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Gulmali Suleymanov told APA. He said that the observed ice layer is thin and can be broken easily. The ice thickness in Siyazan and Nabran regions is 5-8sm.

He said that the communication was established with Russia. Even the ice motion is observed in the Northern Caspian Sea. 15-20sm icing is observed in the Northern Caspian Sea and 8-15sm in Derbent-Makhachgala zone”.

The icing was observed in Caspian Sea’s Azerbaijani coasts, Tagiyev settlement on February 3.

For the last time the anomalous icing in Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea was observed in 120 and 1953. In 1920 the icing was recorded in Gizilagaj gulf. It caused the death of more than 10 000 migratory birds. In 1953 the icing was recorded in the north of the Caspian Sea. The ice floes even came to Absheron coasts. The ices were bombed in order not to cause danger to the oil rocks.
