Gandja city’s General Plan approved

Gandja. Aykhan Huseynov – APA. The final version of Gandja City’s General Plan was discussed with the participating of public representatives of the city. APA’s western bureau reports that conceptual project of the General Plan which was prepared by Azerbaijan State Project Institute, was submitted to discuss.

It was said that the construction of round road around the Gandja will cause dramatic reduce of the number of vehicles entering the city. All areas covered range from post Shamkir to Zazaly and the territory of Goygol’s «AZOS» will be transferred to the city of Gandja. According to conceptual development project, the area of the city will be extended to 17,000 hectares from 8800 at the expense of additional lands.

The author of the Gandja’s General Plan is architect of the Azerbaijan State Project Institute, Rasim Amirov. He said that the density of population 97 people per hectare in the city. “The reason is many individual areas. We increased this indicator in the new plan. According to the plan, the density of population will be 110-120 people per ha. Several roads will be extended for the purpose of the decreasing of density of traffic in the city”.

The New General Plan considers establishment of several new zones in the city. These are zones of industry, education, health, tourism, art and culture, recreation. It also considers the establishment of the national preserve for the protecting the city’s antiquity and historical monuments. 2-km boulevard will be established in 4.3-km of riverside area. According to the New General Plan it is also considered to fulfill ecological measures and increase greenery. 145-ha greenery will be extended to 2251 ha in the city.

Then the intellectuals expressed their opinions about the General Plan. At last Gandja’s General Plan was adopted.
