Azerbaijan and Latvia sign environment cooperation agreement

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. Latvian delegation headed by minister of environment Raymonds Veyonis is on a visit to Azerbaijan. According to APA, Veyonis and his Azerbaijani counterpart Huseyn Bagirov visited Heydar Aliyevâ€™s memorial in the Alley of Honor in Baku on Thursday.

Then they held a meeting at the Ministry of Environmnet and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan. The ministers discussed the protection of environment, waste management, protection of biodiversity, environmental monitoring, water resources management and climate changes. Huseyn Bagirov said Azerbaijan has signed more than 10 memorandums with Germany, Denmark, Balkan countries and the neighbor countries in the field of environment so far. The minister said cooperation with Latvia, EU member, would be useful for Azerbaijan. Veyonis said Latvia had a rich experience in the field of environment and was among the best environmental countries in the international rating lists. The guest said cooperation with Azerbaijan would create new ideas in the fields of eco-economy and eco-innovation.

Then the governments of Azerbaijan and Latvia signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of environment protection.
