List of banned beaches publicized

The Republican Hygienic and Epidemiological Center told APA the reconstruction work in the sanitary protection area of Mardakan-Shuvalan beach was completed and cleaning of waste waters there is under the control. Laboratory examination of sea water in Mardakan-Shuvalan, Buzovna, Zughulba, Pirshagi, Bilgah, Nardaran, Turkan beaches showed normal quality indications.

The beaches of Shikh and Sahil districts were identified as the most polluted areas. Intensive waste flow from the residential areas was observed in that part of the sea. The same situation was observed in Novkhani beach, which is polluted with waste waters flown from the residential areas of Novkhani and Corat settlements. Beach season preparations were not satisfactory in this area. Puddles of waste waters and bogs overgrown by canes create anti-sanitary situation there.

Hovsan beach was also polluted with the industrial, domestic and agricultural wastes. Higher bacteriological pollution indications were identified in the beaches of Shikh, Sahil, Novkhani and Hovsan. According to the law on sanitary and epidemiological health, use of the beaches in those areas was banned for protection of the people from infections and serious threat for their health.
