â€œMaster Planâ€ on conservation of Icherisheher presented

Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. â€œMaster Planâ€ on conservation of Icherisheher prepared by the international expert group with participation of Azerbaijani specialists has been presented today, APA reports. Chief of Icherisheher State Historical Architectural Preserve under the Cabinet of Ministers Mikayil Jabbarov said â€œMaster Planâ€ will play the role of the General Plan of Icherisheher.
â€œThe main task of the â€œMaster Planâ€ is to ensure systematized conservation of the architectural heritage of the historical center of Baku and plan its future development in line with the international principles. The main aim of the â€œMaster Planâ€ is not to change the view of Icherisheher. The aim of the plan is to analyse every building of Icherisheher, determine how important the building is from historical aspect, how much it differs from its initial project, initial use, basing on this to offer steps and state policy that may influence the cityâ€™s infrastructure, traffic and tourism potential. The plan should be regarded as a map for bringing a number of buildings and settlements to their initial state,â€ he said.

Jabbarov said â€œMaster Planâ€ will be discussed with participation of not only state bodies, but also of public.
â€œOur aim is to obtain an optimal document for Icherisheher. Comments and proposals will be received after the presentation. After that the document will be presented to Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers,â€ he said.

Member of the international expert group Yuka Jokilehto said the plan was based on the quarter principle. The expert said there are 10 world heritage criteria, Baku has been included into the list according to the 4th criterion â€“ criterion of historical ensemble.
