According to the rating publicized in December, 2008, Zimbabwe’s capital Harare was the most expensive city, Angola’s capital Luanda has taken this place now. Despite the financial crisis, living in Asia is much more expensive than living in Europe and America. Renting a two-room flat costs $15,000, 1 liter milk cost $3, 200g cheese imported from Europe cost $15 in Luanda. Dinner in a café costs over $100. Luanda is followed by Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokohama and Kobe of Japan.

The most expensive city of Europe is Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Moscow, the capital of Russia, ranks the 23rd.

New York is the most expensive city of the United States. It rose from 84th place up to the 17th in the list of the most expensive cities.

Baku is the most expensive city in the Commonwealth of Independent States. Azerbaijan’s capital ranks the 20th. Baku ranked the 109th in last year’s rating.

ECA International conducted survey in 270 big cities of the world. The company experts analyzed the prices of 125 kinds of services and consumer items.
