Azerbaijan approves rules for extension of foreignersâ€™ temporary stay

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. Azerbaijanâ€™s Cabinet of Ministers has approved the â€œRules of the Extension of Temporary Stay in Azerbaijan of Foreigners and Stateless Persons in the cases which require no visaâ€.

Under the rules, the period of temporary stay of foreigners and stateless persons who arrive in Azerbaijan visa-free can not exceed 90 days except as specified in international agreements.

Prior to the expiration of this period, foreigners and persons without citizenship shall extend the period of temporary stay or leave the country.

According to the rules, the stay of foreigners and stateless persons who are 18 and older can be extended by the State Migration Service by 90 days on the basis of their request, or request of their legal representatives.

The period of the temporary stay of foreigners and stateless persons may be extended if the need arises for urgent medical treatment, severe disease or death of their close relatives, as well as non-completion of planned works when a proving application submitted by the organization which invited them into the country.

Foreigners and stateless persons are requited to apply to the State Migration Service for extension of stay at least 7 working days before expiry of their stay.
