These cases should be regulated by the law on rights of consumers and advertisement, Spokesman for the State Committee Fazil Talibli told APA. “If the product was not certified and its production and sale were banned, it cannot be advertised. Uncertified products can not be sold and advertised”.

The committee spokesman said not only uncertified foods, but also non-food items were also advertised on TV, but the committee didn’t address the TV channels and National Broadcasting Council. “This issue is in the focus of our attention. We will interfere in this issue in the necessary time. Indeed it shouldn’t need in an official address. There should be a ban on advertising of the uncertified products”.

Chief of the department of examination, programming and analysis of the National Broadcasting Council Tevekkul Dadashov told APA that the State Committee doesn’t need to reproach the National Broadcasting Council and TV channels. “According to article 36.2 of the broadcasting law, the persons, who produce and sell the products which advertisement was banned, are not allowed to sponsor the programs. The committee had to send the list of banned and uncertified products to us. Otherwise how we can be informed what products are banned to be advertised”.

Dadashov said at the request of the Health Ministry, the Council has already taken measures against the ethno-medicine clinic advertised on TV. “We warned the TV channels to stop advertising of this clinic. The State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent should also address the Council with same request”.
