Rainfall raises level of some rivers in Azerbaijan

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva –APA. A water level rose in some rivers of Great and Small Caucasus on June 10-11 as a result of heavy rains, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources told APA. According to the National Hydrometeorology Department the highest level of water was observed in the rivers of Guba-Khachmaz region. It was 100-257 percent of ten-day norms in that region and 90-135 percent of the norm in the region of Balakan-Shaki. The water level was under the norms in other rivers. The water level was 30-75 percent of the norm in the rivers in Gazakh-Ganja and Lankaran-Astara regions.

Regarding the transit rivers current flow from Giragkasaman point of Kura River to Shamkir reservoir was 365 cubic meters/sec or 62 percent of ten-day norms. It was 328 cubic meters/sec or 56 percent of ten-day norm in 2008. The flow from Ganikh River to Mingachevir dam was 132 cubic meters/sec or 78 percent of ten-day norms. It was 71 cubic meters/sec or 42 percent in 2008.

The level of Kura River at Surra point is 412 cm (340 cm in 2008), 320 cm (268 cm in 2008) in Shirvan, 278 cm (271 cm in 2008) in Banka, 220 cm (70 cm in 2008) in Araz-Novruzlu.

The level of Shamkir reservoir is 152.69 m (150.37 m in 2008), Mingachevir dam – 78.25 m (78.45 m in 2008), Araz reservoir – 777.48 m (774.13 m in 2008).
