2009-2010 hunting season period specified in Azerbaijan

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Scientific Council for Coordination of Hunting Affairs held its next meeting. The ministry’s press service told APA the council members passed decision to open the hunting season in 2009-2010 on June 6. The ministry officials said only mammals allowed to be hunted. The bird hunting can be allowed only by the State Commission for prevention of “bird flu” and coordination of relevant organizations established by the presidential order on February 16, 2006.

The council also set the norms of wild hunting for the season 2009-2010. There are some restrictions on the hunting of goats, wild boar, hare and nutria.

Some wild animals like jackal and raccoon could be hunted throughout the year for regulation of their numbers. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources will issue one-time hunting license, which will cost 2.90 AZN for hare, 3.96 AZN for jackal, 1.65 AZN for raccoon and nutria, 24.75 AZN for goat, 16.50 AZN for boar.

The cost of license for foreign hunters is set in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers decision from November 6, 2004 and regulated on the basis of contracts reached with the Department for the Protection of Biological Diversity and Development of Special Protected Natural Areas.
