More than 4700 foreigners legally employed in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA. More than 4700 foreigners got official permission for employment in Azerbaijan, said Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natig Mammadov, APA reports. He said there were foreigners engaged in illegal labor activity in Azerbaijan still and added that the e-information center would enable them to specify the number of migranst in Azerbaijan. The deputy minister said 100 thousand AZN of duty was paid to the state budget in 2008 for employment license to the migrants, but it reached 500 thousand AZN over the two months this year after the increasing of duty to 1000 AZN. “Earlier the state duty was 45 AZN, now it was increased to 1000 AZN. Minimum salary is 75 AZN in Azerbaijan now, but foreigners receive higher than 75 AZN. Therefore the state duty was determined as 1000 AZN”.

Mammadov said more than 700 children were born to the families of labor migrants, foreigners and non-citizens in Azerbaijan. They were provided with special e-health card. 500 children of the labor migrants are studying in public schools in Baku and more than 200 children are going to the private schools. Mammadov said the labor migrants and their families had equal rights with the Azerbaijani citizens.
