Baku hosts Cardiology Symposium

Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. Two-day Satellite Cardiology Symposium of the OMI – Salzburg Weill-Cornell Seminars began on Friday at the Central Oilmen Hospital in Baku, APA reports. Chairman of Azerbaijan Cardio-Vascular Surgeons Association, Candidate of Medical Science Rashad Mahmoudov said the symposium was dedicated to the hospital’s late chief doctor Fakhraddin Javadov’s memory. It is the first cardiology symposium organized in Azerbaijan. The symposium will create opportunity to improve the Azerbaijani cardiologists’ work and to discuss the most topical problems with the European and US doctors. It will promote the development of cardiology in Azerbaijan.
Chief cardiologist of the Health Ministry Faig Guliyev said the doctors were always searching for the ways to reduce the cardio-vascular diseases. He said the symposium would assist the Azerbaijani cardiologists in this field.
Deputy Director of the Cardiology-Electrophysiology Clinic of the New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill-Cornell Medical College Kenneth Stain made report on the implantation of cardioverter defibrillators. Stain informed the participants about the last innovations achieved by the US physicians in the field of cardiology and showed related video-materials. Highly-experienced specialists were invited from various countries to the two-day symposium. The heart attack death, diagnosis and prevention of cardiac arrhythmia, faintness, chronic coronary heart disease and other clinic issues required intervention are discussed at the event.
