Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. The Hemophilia School was inaugurated at the 10th children clinic on Wednesday on the occasion of April 17, the World Hemophilia Day. According to APA, head of the Republic Hemophiliacs Association Gulnara Huseynova said that such schools were opened in the world’s developed countries too. It was established in Azerbaijan for the first time. Huseynova said the Hemophilia School would organize prevention of disease and its after-effects and would provide educational work. Parents of ill children, the aged hemophiliacs, their relatives, as well as medical personnel can take necessary information about the disease at the school. Huseynova said there were 1200 hemophiliacs and more than 3000 carriers of hemophilia in Azerbaijan. Most of them are preschool- and schoolchildren. 217 children need in the complex rehabilitation measures. Mostly the citizens of Baku and regions of Central Lowland, Shirvan and Ganjabasar are suffering from hemophilia. Huseynova said they expected to establish molecular genetic examination laboratory within the framework of the State Program for Government Support to Hemophiliacs. The laboratory will assist the prevention of birth of hemophiliac babies.
