"In order to raise the ranking results of our higher education institutions, it is necessary to organize the work of universities together with research institutions," Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev said this during his speech at the "Internationalization of Science and Higher Education" forum, APA reports.
"In the formation of university rankings, indicators such as the reputation of the higher education institution, the opinions of employees about the university, the volume of the research component, the number of teachers and students, the number of foreign students and teachers are taken into account. Although we have positive dynamics in all indicators, the research component is still a concern for us. Scientific research is being conducted, but in a fragmented manner. A scientist conducting research must represent a university. If we can organize this, the rating of our universities will rise," the minister said.
The Minister also noted that there are many universities, but the number of research conducted is small: "Therefore, it is necessary to organize the work of universities together with research institutions. We must definitely make this change for the sake of the development of science in the country. If we can do this, our universities will be at the top of international rankings in about 15-20 years."
