New orthography and orthoepy dictionaries are being prepared for publication
New Orthography and Orthoepy dictionaries will be published in 2025-2026, said Rasim Heydarov, the head of a department at the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), in an interview with APA.
A dictionary updated with a frequency system to be compiled
The scholar noted that the new Orthography and Orthoepy dictionaries, which will be prepared at the Linguistics Institute in 2025-2026, are being developed using a frequency system: "That is, the most frequently used words in the press, books, and media will be selected and analyzed. Words with higher frequency will be included in the dictionaries. The new dictionaries will be richer and more accurate than the current ones."
A Word Base of over five hundred million was collected
According to the information I have obtained, a word base of over five hundred million has been collected for the new dictionary. These words will be repeated, sifted, and selected."
Materials from the last 20-30 years of media and press were researched
He noted that materials from the media and press from the last 20-30 years have been taken, and the most frequently used, i.e., high-frequency words have been selected: "All the sources from which each word has been taken will be included in the dictionaries."
Work on transliterated dictionaries is ongoing
At the same time, new transliterated dictionaries for English, Arabic, Persian, and many other languages are being developed at the Linguistics Institute. This is a somewhat lengthy process, but work has already begun, and the system is being established."
