Georgia discloses number of Azerbaijani students in universities

The number of Azerbaijani citizens studying at higher education institutions in Georgia stands at 896, APA’s local bureau reports.

This was stated in the 2025–2026 academic year report of Georgia’s National Statistics Office.

Compared to the previous academic year, the number of Azerbaijani citizens receiving higher education in the neighboring country has increased by 36. Of them, 407 are students at state universities and 489 at private universities. Among Azerbaijani citizens studying at state institutions, 163 are women, and 244 are men, while among those studying at private higher education institutions, 95 are women and 394 are men.

The total number of foreign students studying at universities in the neighboring country is 44,440, which is 7,315 more than in the previous academic year. The vast majority of them — 36,895 — are students at private higher education institutions.

Eight Azerbaijani citizens, one female and seven males, are working towards obtaining a doctoral degree in Georgia.

It should be noted that 64 higher education institutions operate in Georgia, of which 19 are state and 45 are private. Of them, 64.1% are located in Tbilisi.
