According to the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on "Additional measures to optimize the activities and increase the efficiency of scientific institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MSE)," the structural optimization of several scientific research institutes under the Ministry is planned, APA reports, citing the MSE.
It was noted that based on the decree, which is an important strategic document ensuring the transition to a new stage in scientific management and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, institutes working in similar and complementary areas will be merged. As a result, eight specialized institutes will be created: Institutes of Geology, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Living Systems, and Molecular Biology. At the same time, two new scientific institutions that meet modern scientific infrastructure and international standards will be formed. Some scientific research institutes will be transferred to the regional state universities, which will further strengthen the integration of science and education. Additionally, some scientific and production associations with low operational efficiency will be terminated.
