In 2026, two research universities will be established based on existing higher education institutions, APA reports, citing Cabinet of Ministers' report for 2024.
It was noted that the requirements for granting research university status were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers’ Decision No. 610, dated December 29, 2017. Currently, relevant work is being carried out to update these requirements based on international experience.
According to the “Social and Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026,” approved by the Presidential Decree No. 3378 dated July 22, 2022, the establishment of two research universities in 2026 is planned.
