ANAS President: Issue of Ramiz Mehdiyev’s full membership will be reviewed

The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) expresses deep regret over the situation involving Ramiz Mehdiyev, ANAS President, academician Isa Habibbayli said in his comments to APA.

Isa Habibbayli noted that after the court decision, the issue of Ramiz Mehdiyev’s full membership will be reviewed.

Note that the Sabail District Court of Baku has issued a ruling in the criminal case against Ramiz Mehdiyev. According to the decision, the court granted the motion regarding Mehdiyev, who has been charged with particularly serious criminal offenses, and imposed a restraining measure of four months of house arrest. He is accused under Articles 278.1 (actions aimed at seizing state power), 274 (state treason), and 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained through crime) of the Criminal Code.

Recall that Ramiz Mehdiyev served as the Head of the Presidential Administration from 1995 to 2019 and as the President of ANAS from 2019 to 2022.
