According to him, the formation of national identity in Azerbaijan has started to develop after the independence: “The religious factors have a great role in formation of this national identity. On one hand, calls are made on freedom of belief, on the other hand there are such organizations in the country, whose aim is the loss of national identity.”
“If we follow the dictation of these religious movements and do what they say Nizami Ganjavi, Fuzuli, Nasimi, Novruz holiday and other national attributes should be alien to us,” he said.
Elshad Isgandarov said there are trends all over the world that cast doubt on human freedoms.
“We should continue our complex activity for joint development of the religious and national factors. Each religion has a national model. Creation of such a model can solve the problem. As an example we can show the model of Turkey,” he said.
