First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee Sayyad Salahli said in his speech spoke of the importance of the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on financial assistance for religious enlightenment and promotion of national values, saying the projects proposed by religious communities for financial assistance are aimed at boosting spiritual enlightenment throughout the country. He mentioned to the religious communities the importance of promoting national values, boosting enlightenment efforts, preventing any action likely to cause sectarian confrontations, doing more against religious radicalism in the direction of ideological warfare, and defending national interests.
Then certificates were presented to newly registered religious communities. In 2015, the State Committee allocated financial assistance to 87 religious communities in accordance with the presidential order dated 27 November 2014. Of them, 19 are non-Islamic and 68 Islamic. At the expenses of this financial assistance, religious communities are carrying out spiritual enlightenment and promoting national values. Also, the state committee registered 52 religious communities – 49 Islamic and 3 non-Islamic.
