Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. “First of all, there is a fact of the occupation of Nagorno Karabakh and the surrounding regions. In this regard, I think the steps distracting attention are not right,” Turkey’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismayil Alper Coskun said in his interview with APA while commenting on the reports that Armenia intends to start flights from Khojaly airport.
He mentioned that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu issued an official statement on this issue. Commenting on the decision passed by the Cabinet of Ministers permitting to shoot down the aircrafts violating the country’s airspace, the ambassador noted that the airspace is also a national sovereign space of each country: “Its use is regulated by certain internationally adopted laws. These laws also contain steps on protecting the airspace. In its statements, the Azerbaijani side in based on the right provided by these laws.”
