President Ilham Aliyev: â€œAzerbaijan will continue supporting all the efforts having positive influence on the dynamic development of the intercultural dialogueâ€

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. The message of congratulations of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow to the participants were read at the conference “CIS Muslims for peace and sustainable development” held in Baku.

APA reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s message was read by Ali Hasanov, head of political and public affairs department of the Presidential Administration.

The message reads that being one of the historical and cultural centers of the Islamic world Azerbaijan is a secular and multicultural state: “Historically, our country had friendly and cooperative relations based on mutual respect and esteem between various nations and religions. The important role of Islam is undeniable in the establishment of progressive relations in our society. Islam with its universal mission always invites people to peace, tranquility, humanism and solidarity. Today, the preservation and further development of historical and spiritual heritage and ethnic cultural diversity in our country are the main directions of the state policy. Currently complicated socio-political processes exist in the globalizing world. Undesirable developments such as ethnic religious conflicts, ethnic discrimination, religious extremism and Islamophobia are being observed. To fight against such cases there is a need for dialogue and cooperation among civilizations, and valuable words of the religious leaders.”

President’s message says that all these are priorities of Azerbaijan’s domestic and foreign policy, cooperation with the democratic world community.

“Azerbaijan will continue supporting all the efforts having positive influence on the dynamic development of the intercultural dialogue.”

Russian ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin read the message of President Putin to the participants of the conference. Vladimir Putin underlined that the participants of the conference should struggle against extremism and radicalism.

“It is necessary to form the atmosphere of denial of religious fanaticism. Because the religious fanaticism tries to distort the moral history of Islam based on mercy, mutual assistance and tolerance principles,” he said.
