Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. “Armenians have destroyed or armenianized hundreds of Albanian temples, churches, religious-historical sites, monuments for many years”, said the head of the Albanian-Udin Christian Community Robert Mobili at the First International Baku Forum on “State and Religion: Strengthening tolerance in the changing world” held by the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, APA reports. He said that the war between Russia and the Qajar (Kadjar) Dynasty is remembered for cataclysms in the region, especially by the Caucasian Albanian-Udin community.
Reminding that Udins were ancient Eastern Christians of the region, Mobili said that the policy of the Tsarist Russia resulted in the violation of the religious and ethnic rights of Albanians, as well as in the falsification of their past history: “The center of Albanian churches was unreasonably given to the Armenian Apostolic Church due to Russian tsar's policy in the Caucasus and importance given to Armenians. Thus, the Albanian religious leaders moved to Echmiadzin. After that decision a large number of Albanian-Christian churches and monuments have been destroyed or armenianized both in Karabakh and Armenia. Today dozens of Albanian-Christian temples are under occupation.”
He said that Christian and Muslim religious leaders have fought together against aliens for many centuries: "Today's religious and ethnic tolerance of Azerbaijan may be an example for almost all countries of the world."
