This year’s holiday, according to the calculations of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (AMEA), falls on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah in the Hijri lunar calendar, which corresponds to June 6 in the Gregorian calendar, as noted in the fatwa of the Council of Qazis, said the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh in his holiday greeting, APA reports.
According to him, based on Sharia rulings, the sacrifice performed within three days is an obligatory act during the Hajj pilgrimage, while for Muslims outside of Hajj, the intention to sacrifice and distribute to those in need is a recommended and meritorious deed.
Allahshukur Pashazadeh noted that Eid al-Adha prayers will be held in all central mosques across the country, including the Ajdarbay Mosque in Baku at 08:00 and the Tazapir Mosque at 09:00.
