The youngest Azerbaijani pilgrim heading to Hajj is 13 years old, while the oldest is 86, Vusal Jahangiri, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Caucasian Muslims Office and Director of the Hajj Electronic System, said in response to APA’s inquiry.
He noted that both individuals are women.
When will the pilgrim groups depart for Mecca?
Note that the first group of pilgrims from Azerbaijan will depart for Mecca on May 25, and the second group on May 26.
Is it forbidden to take children on the Hajj pilgrimage?
Vusal Jahangiri told APA that there is no official notice banning children from participating in Hajj: “Some Saudi Arabian news portals have circulated such information, but it most likely applies only to Saudi nationals. Generally, we do not take infants. We allow children aged 12 and older to go. If someone insists on taking a child, we advise against it because the child may face difficulties there. For example, this year, one pilgrim wanted to take their children, and after consulting us, we informed them that it would be unsafe for the child.”
