APA reports that they are non-Islamic communities - Baha’I communities in Baku and Sumgayit.

Head of “Azerbaijan Baha’is Community”, which unites these two religious communities, Rovshan Abbasov confirmed the fact to APA. He explained the refusal with the religious beliefs: “According to our faith, we benefit only from internal funds, we never take money from outside, we refuse even million. We live and work in such a manner in the entire world. There were people who were giving millions dollars to use, but we thanked them and refused the money. We could take the funds allocated by the state and spend it to the charitable works. Bu we thought that there is no need in it. If they want they can spend it themselves in the line of the State Committee for Work with the Religious Organizations. That’s why we wrote a letter to the State Committee and said that we refused the money”.

Abbasov said that there were about 1000 Baha’is in Azerbaijan.

On the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Cabinet of Ministers signed order on allocation of financial aid from the state budget to the Caucasian Muslim Board (CMB) and 18 non-Islamic religious organizations. AZN 2 mln were allocated to CMB, AZN 400 000 were allocated to 18 non-Islamic religious organizations.
