APA reports quoting Gruzia Online news portal that Merabishvili has today been detained after having been questioned by Western Georgia regional Prosecutor’s Office in Kutaisi.
The former prime minister is accused of illegal activities in the implementation of state program, the dispersal of the mass protest in Tbilisi on May 26, 2011 and the murder of bank employee Sandro Girgvliani on January 28, 2006.
Along with Vano Merabishvili, governor of the Kakheti region Zurab Tchiaberashvili has also been detained.
