The 5.3-megawatt Eyvazli Hydroelectric Power Plant is being built on the Bargushad River in Azerbaijan's Gubadli district. The plant, being constructed by AzerEnergy in accordance with the instructions of the country's President, will be the first hydroelectric power plant in the history of Gubadli district, APA-Economics reports, citing AzerEnergy OJSC.
According to the information, a headwater intake facility has been built on the Bargushad River in accordance with environmental standards to ensure a sustainable water supply to the plant. A 5.3-kilometer diversion pipeline has been laid in difficult terrain conditions, and construction of the powerhouse has been completed.
Currently, turbines and generators, as well as 35-kilovolt and 10-kilovolt indoor switchgear, are being installed at the plant. Construction and installation work at the Eyvazli Hydroelectric Power Plant, which will be equipped with two Francis-type turbines, is expected to be completed in the near future.
The Eyvazli Hydroelectric Power Plant will be connected to the country's unified power system through the 110-kilovolt Gubadli substation, built and commissioned by AzerEnergy in 2021.
With the commissioning of the newly built hydroelectric power plant, Gubadli district will also join the ranks of districts producing green hydropower in the liberated territories. The plant is expected to generate 15.6 million kilowatt-hours of environmentally friendly green energy annually, save 3.5 million cubic meters of natural gas, and prevent the emission of 6,400 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
