Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has started demining the area suspected to be a mass grave in the village of Ashaghi Seyidahmadli of Fuzuli district, APA's Karabak bureau reports.
ANAMA employees said the mentioned areas are excessively contaminated with mines.
It was reported that considering the testimony of people taken hostages during the first Karabakh War, as well as their family members regarding the possibility of a mass grave in the village of Ashaghi Seyidahmadli of the Fuzuli region it was decided to conduct searches in the said area. Since the entire area of the village of Ashagi Seyidahmadli was completely mined, ANAMA started demining operations.
ANAMA employee Habil Babayev noted that the area, which is supposed to be the grave of the people who went missing during the first Karabakh war, covers an area of 4 hectares. Currently, that area is being cleared of mines by ANAMA. 59 anti-tank mines were found in the area within 10 days: "The area was heavily polluted by the mines. The enemy knew that people would search for the graves of their relatives, which is why they massively mined the area. To date, ANAMA employees have cleared 15 percent of the 4-hectare area from mines. A large number of mines are visible. This shows the possibility of having many mines in these areas in the future is high".
ANAMA employee noted when Armenians attacked the Kazakhlar village of the Fuzuli district, the resident of the village, Mahmudov Bahruz Behbud was 11 years old. He said that his father was taken hostage by the Armenians during the occupation. After that, his family could not get information about Behbud Mahmudov: "I hope to find a sign from my father in the area where there is supposed to be a mass grave."
