“If we bring the remains of Fuzuli to Azerbaijan, his soul would be disturbed,” said Ataami Mirzayev, head of the Fuzuli studies sector of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), doctor of philological sciences, professor, as a response to the "Was there ever an initiative to bring of Fuzuli’s remains to Azerbaijan?" in a with APA.
“There were talks about this in Soviet times. Heydar Aliyev's approach to this issue was different. He said that time will tell if it is necessary or not. You know, Fuzuli, who was a devout and religious person by nature, had a deep impression on his memory from what he had heard and learned about the tragedy of Karbala since childhood. Fuzuli even expressed his wish to be buried next to the mausoleum of Imam Hussain when he died in one of his verses," he said.
“It was his will to be buried near of tomb of Imam Hussain. Why should we break his will? If we bring the remains of Fuzuli to Azerbaijan, his soul would be disturbed. I don't think it's necessary,” – he said.
