Uraloglu to attend opening ceremony of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway

Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu will attend the official opening ceremony of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway to be held in Georgia on June 2, the minister's press adviser Osman Bekar told APA's Türkiye bureau.

The ceremony will be held at the Akhalkalaki railway station in Georgia. Officials from Azerbaijan and Georgia are also expected to participate in the event.

Note that although the BTK railway has been operating in test mode since 2017, the project's official inauguration will only take place now. The total length of the railway is 827 kilometers, of which 213 kilometers pass through Georgian territory.

The construction of the Georgian section of the project was financed through a loan of $775 million provided by Azerbaijan. The loan is planned to be repaid through revenues generated by the project.
