"Russia and Azerbaijan plan to sign an agreement on the construction of the section of the Rasht-Astara railway by the end of 2023," Andrey Belousov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia said at the plenary session of the Transport Week forum, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
"By the end of this year, we should sign a similar agreement with Azerbaijan. From 2028, this route will be fully operational with an additional increase in cargo transportation, initially - 15 million tons of cargo per year. These are ambitious plans, but they are being implemented," Belousov stressed.
