An article titled “The Experience of Baku’s Successful Reconstruction Projects: A Model for the Restoration of Iran’s Target Areas” has been published by Iran’s state agency Islamic Republic News Agency within the framework of WUF13, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.
IRNA covered the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in “White City” and “Sovetski,” evaluating them as highly successful projects.
It was noted that these restoration efforts can be presented as a useful experience and an effective management model for solving existing housing problems and reconstructing outdated areas in Iran.
The article also featured the views of Faridun Babayi Aghdam, a board member of Iran’s Urban Regeneration Company, who participated in WUF13 held in Baku. According to him, the project that transformed “Black City” into “White City” covers a vast area along the coast of the Caspian Sea.
Faridun Babayi Aghdam noted that the area, once exposed to environmental pollution, has now been transformed into a zone with high added value and suitable living conditions.
He also touched upon the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in “Sovetski.” Thus, within the framework of the project, the area was gradually transformed into parks, green spaces, and streets, resulting in an increase in greenery and passage areas.
The Iranian official added that due to high financial costs and long-term agreement problems between government institutions and property owners in Iran, the implementation of such projects is rarely possible.
Babayi Aghdam added that Iran could also use these projects in the restoration and reconstruction of its target areas.
