Georgian Economy Ministry: BTK will strengthen the region's transport accessibility

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line is a joint strategic project of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye that plays an important role in strengthening connections between Europe and Asia, Georgia's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development said, APA's local bureau reports.

The ministry noted that the new railway route creates additional transit capacity in the region, makes a significant contribution to the diversification of cargo transportation, and strengthens the region's transport accessibility.

“The volume of cargo transported via the BTK railway is increasing year by year. Following the full commissioning of the line, the project's carrying capacity will increase to up to 5 million tons, enabling the region to handle additional cargo and significantly strengthen its transport capabilities,” the statement said.
