"The day the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line was fully commissioned was a historic day. This is a very important and strategic project implemented through the joint efforts of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye," said Georgia's Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani, APA's local bureau reports.
According to her, a completely new, modern railway line and infrastructure have been added to the region's transport network, allowing for deeper connections between Europe and Asia.
"The project creates new opportunities in terms of trade and economic cooperation, which will improve the services provided for existing cargo transportation in the region and further strengthen Georgia's role in the context of the Middle Corridor," Ioseliani added.
The deputy minister noted that the Middle Corridor is no longer an alternative route, but a route of international importance that has gained great relevance in recent years.
