Yesterday, at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission with Russia, we agreed to identify short-term growth points in trade, economic, and investment areas, and to prepare concrete proposals for promising directions, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, said during his speech at a meeting of the Azerbaijan–Russia Business Council, APA-Economics reports.

“According to the general opinion, there is significant untapped potential here, and we expect concrete proposals to ensure this growth,” he added.

Shahin Mustafayev noted that, along with the expansion of investment and industrial cooperation, the transport and logistics sector is also taking on an increasingly important role in the structure of Azerbaijan–Russia cooperation.

“Efficient relations between our countries, the reliability of transit routes, and the consistent modernization of border crossing and railway infrastructure determine the sustainability of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

For Azerbaijan and Russia, these are among the key factors in increasing mutual trade volumes, strengthening transit potential, and enhancing the competitiveness of the North–South corridor. In the extremely complex conditions currently formed in the region, the North–South International Transport Corridor has proven its viability and competitive advantage in practice.”

Shahin Mustafayev said that within the framework of yesterday’s meeting with Russia, the document titled “Roadmap for creating conditions for the implementation of an electronic international consignment note for road transport in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation” was signed:

“During yesterday’s meeting, concrete agreements were reached in the transport and logistics sector, key objectives, their implementation timelines, and tariff regulation parameters were determined. Issues related to increasing cargo transportation volumes were discussed, relevant instructions were given for taking specific measures, and we expect practical results to be achieved in the near future.”
