"Approximately 100,000 passengers are planned to be transported annually on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route," the head of the Passenger Transportation Department of “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC, Azer Farajov, said in an interview with APA-Economics.

According to him, the resumption of passenger transportation on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route is an important development in terms of transport, tourism, and regional ties between the two countries: “Approximately 100,000 passengers are planned to be transported annually on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route.”

Azer Farajov also touched upon the train’s speed and travel duration: “In Georgia, the train’s average speed will be approximately 50 km/h. The relatively lower speed on the Gardabani–Tbilisi section is related to the unsatisfactory condition of the infrastructure in that area. The trains will cover the 498-kilometer distance from Baku to Boyuk Kesik station in 6 hours and 10 minutes, and since the railway infrastructure in Azerbaijan has been upgraded, they will be able to travel at an average speed of 100 km/h within Azerbaijan,” Azer Farajov emphasized.
