A collapse has occurred on the canal bridge located at the 55th kilometer of the Baku–Alat–Gazakh–Georgia state border highway in the direction of Baku, the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads told APA-Economics.
According to the information, the collapse occurred as a result of the breakage of one of the bridge span beams.
It was noted that agency employees were immediately dispatched to the scene, and safety measures were taken.
Currently, traffic heading toward the capital has been restricted from the 54th to the 56th kilometer of the highway.
Vehicle movement has been redirected to an alternative local side road.
It was also noted that the agency’s specialists have been involved at the site, the causes of the incident are being investigated, the extent of the damage is being assessed, and restoration work will begin shortly.
