Baku to launch new metro station in 2026

In line with the State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku City and Surrounding Areas for 2025–2030, construction of the “Darnagul” electric depot has resumed after many years, Anar Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), said during a roundtable discussion dedicated to the implementation of the State Program for 2025–2030 over the past year, APA-Economics reports.

He noted that excavation work has begun at two points that are a key part of the line separation project in the area of the “28 May” station:

“At the same time, for the construction of a turning chamber beyond ‘Icherisheher’ station, communications with the relevant authorities have been clarified, and the site has been prepared for construction works. Reconstruction works on the siding track beyond ‘Hazi Aslanov’ station have reached the next stage. Within the framework of the State Program, the construction of 10 new stations will be one of the largest expansion phases in the history of the Baku Metro to be implemented in a short period of time. One of these stations is planned to be put into operation in 2026, and repair and construction works at the station known as the B4 project continued at an accelerated pace last year.”
