Baku Metro: 28 May station to operate as usual, but Green Line train operations will change

A new era is beginning in the Baku Metro, Bakhtiyar Mammadov, spokesperson for Baku Metro CJSC, told APA.

He said that until now, the Baku Metro had taken all possible technical measures to ensure minimum intervals: “But from now on, as is the case in international practice, we can say that this is the beginning of a crucial day in terms of ensuring shorter intervals. It is true that there will be certain restrictions in the coming period. Our passengers will not be able to travel between 28 May and Nizami. In other words, train services on the Red Line will operate between Icherisheher and Hazi Aslanov. The operation of the 28 May station will remain unchanged. However, the operating principle of trains on the Green Line is being changed. Trains will operate between Darnagul and Nizami. The interval on the Red Line is 2 minutes 30 seconds, while on the Green Line it is currently 3 minutes 30 seconds. However, in the coming period, monitoring will be further intensified to study passenger flow directions.”

According to him, significant innovations will be introduced both in terms of reducing intervals and informing passengers: “Starting today, volunteers will be deployed at Baku Metro stations, while additional staff will also be assigned to stations and significant measures will be taken to inform passengers at the entrance areas so that there is no confusion in the coming period. Construction work is expected to continue for 11 months. During this period, our passengers can use the six express routes designated by the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, as well as 20 reinforced regular bus routes, to travel between the Green and Red lines by bypassing the Baku Metro. All of these will be monitored separately, and work will also be carried out to provide passengers with all possible conveniences.”
